RHP Trey Dillard Vaults To Top of 2017 Fastball Velocity Leaderboard
Trey Dillard, a 2017 RHP from Phoenix, Arizona, was the talk of the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout held at Arizona Christian University on April 24th. One reason for that was he vaulted onto the leaderboard for Top Fastball Velocity touching 90 mph during his bullpen session. That number put him in the top tier of 2017 pitchers (eight in total) where 92 mph holds the #1 spot.
Aside from the big velocity, the 6’2” right-hander impressed the scouts with his 80 mph slider that had sharp, late break as as well as an excellent feel for a sinking change-up. Add to it a repeatable delivery with a clean arm stroke and the result is an exciting young pitching prospect who pounds the strike zone with three promising pitches.
In addition to Dillard, 2018 Kyle Carriker (Cave Creek, AZ) qualified out of the Arizona session with an 84 mph fastball. Fellow 2018 grad Dean Fiorini (Pottstown, PA) was a tick better – touching 85 in his bullpen session at the PA session on the east coast.
A pair of 2019 graduates also added their names to the leaderboard with impressive fastball velocity. Gage Woods out of Coldwater, MS threw an impressive 85 mph while Joseph Ventresca of Little Egg Harbor, NJ touched 82.
